'On Yer Bike Tynedale' 12 - 4, Sunday 22nd June 2025, in central Hexham.

PictureThe winner of the 'Dress up Your Bike' competition, 2024
Last year this event was enjoyed by about 1000 people. As you can see from the pictures, it included many young cyclists, as well as adapted bike-riders, a wide age-range of residents, wheelchair users and a plethora of visitors to Hexham. The historic centre was showcased in a way never seen before. See the 'Gallery' here for more pictures

This year, the bike track will be the same 500 metres from the Abbey, up Beaumont Street, turning into the Abbey gardens at Fusiliers' gate, just in front of the Queen's Hall. The cycle track curves behind the Abbey, coming out at the Cowgarth exit, in front of the bowling green beside the Abbey back car park, then down Cowgarth, turning right and up Market street into the marketplace. Please see the map below to see the road closures on the day. They'll be in place from 11am until 5pm. If you're going to the Sunday service at the Abbey, you'll be able to leave from the normal car park at the rear of the Abbey and the road closure operatives have been told to allow people to leave, and allow any taxis picking up the congregation to enter. You can contact us on [email protected] for any queries.

We are working this year with the Queen's Hall on 'The Future is Now' festival. Riding bikes is very much part of a future with fewer fossil fuels. The Queen's Hall is collaborating with a range of Hexham voluntary and professional organisations to showcase news, ideas, inspiration and joy in building a sustainable Hexham in the future. Click here to see more on their website
